You know when you played games as a kid & a song would be sung often to choose who is "on" or "it", well what are some that you can remember?

More in group games played outdoors than anything else. One I remember is : “There’s a party on the hill, will you come come come” etc. Your turn!

Eenie, meenie, minie, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe,
If he hollers let him go,
Eenie, meenie, minie, moe.

Haha, I love this question :) My brothers and I still use these chants to determine who has to what task when we hang out.

“Eenie meanie, miny, moe…”
“Bubblegum, bubblegum in a dish…”
“Ink-a-Dinkado”

But more than any rhyme, we settled who was it via Rock, Paper, and Scissors.

We always did the “NOT IT!” game where the last person to touch their nose was it.
We still do this on a daily basis.

@erichw1504 We did thaat for the beginning and then the elimination part was:

“My mother said to choose the very best one,
And you are not – IT!

“My mother and your mother are hanging up clothes…
My mother punches your mother right in the nose…
What color was the blood?”

And then whoever you’re pointing at says a color, then you spell it out one letter at a time and whoever you end on is “it”.

There was a paper fortune thing that also required this type of cadence…if I remember correctly

“Ink-a-dink; a bottle of ink. The cork fell out, and you stink!”
“One potato, two potato, three potato, four! Five potato, six potato, seven potato…more!”

“Engine engine, number nine, going down Chicago line. If the train goes off the track, do you want your money back?” Whoever you landed on has to answer yes or no. From there, you take their choice (we’ll use yes for this example) and say, “Y-E-S spells yes and you are it.” Along with some of the others mentioned before…

We did:

“Eenie Meenie Meinie Mo, Catch a Tiger by the Toe, If he hollers make him pay, sixty dollars every day, my mother told me to pick the very best one, and you…are…it!”

“Bubble Gume Bubble Gum in a dish…”

“Daddy had a donkey, donkey died, daddy cried, inky binky bon KEY!”

“Tarzan, Monkey Man, swinging from a rubberband, slipt and fell into a well, what color was the water? pick a color and count out the letters

The most popular, though was 21 fingers. Each kid puts out a number of fingers between one and three, then you count them and the 21st finger is the it person. :]

My personal favorite, which we use all the time in college is:

“NOSE GOES!” Last one to put their finger to their nose has to do it.

A similar one is : “BUNNY UP!” Same as nose goes, but you give yourself bunny ears. :)

I’m happy to know that even at 19, I still have a sense of childhood with me. [:

“My mother and your mother were hanging up clothes.
My mother socked your mother right in the nose.
What color was the blood?”
(someone names a color, like green)
“G-R-E-E-N spells ‘green’ and you are not it!”
