Have you ever heard of a doctor charging you for this? (details follow)

Asked by Aster (20023points) September 20th, 2010

“John” broke his neck and had a neurologist come to the ER and attempt to treat him. John was released two days later. Shortly, John began receiving bills from ANOTHER neurologist for $40 a day John had never met. So John called the office of the other doctor about the bills and was told “those are bills just IN CASE (the new) doctor has to be called at some point!” John never paid a dime and they never pushed it.

No, that’s weird. You pay for services rendered, not services possibly rendered at some indeterminate point in the future.

I can see him laughing and telling the secretary, “oh, well; let’s give it a shot and see if it works.” Or I should have said, “Billing dept.” It’s a true story.

Unbelievable. Good for John for not paying it.

Never heard of that, but it doesn’t surprise me.
