Open PDFs in Chrome?

So I finally made the switch from safari to chrome (mac) and everything was going great until I clicked a pdf link and it downloaded to my desktop.

Do we live in the stone ages? Why does chrome not display the pdf itself? I am hoping I am missing a simple setting checkbox or plugin, but I couldn’t find anything relevant.

I installed some plugin that said it would fix this, but it didn’t. How do you chrome users deal with this?
