How would you say that you're different from everyone else?

Asked by Jude (32198points) September 24th, 2010

I don’t fit into the Mama group (with kidlets). I don’t have Mommy discussions and want to talk about The Bachelor, and clothes. I hate texting, I don’t watch t.v., and I could do without Starbucks. A lot of the peeps (girls) who I went to school with, I’m different from them. I don’t relate.

I like music, art, plants, find beauty in urban decay, like my alone time, don’t feel the need to talk all of the time or be bubbly/happy all of the time. I don’t have to have a lot of people around me. Just a few that I care about.

I like helping people. I am the chick who will go out of her way to help someone; whether it be to run and grab the door for some elderly person, sit there and work through a problem (emotional) with one of my kids (students), or offer to pay for someone who is struggling. Someone out in the street drops something (say money), and it starts to roll, I’ll run and grab it and give it to them (it’s automatic). My girlfriend and I were walking in Toronto and a lady with heels on was coming out of the Ed Mirvish Theatre and she slipped and fell, her husband just stood there, as did other people. I went up to her and offered my hand to help her up. Her knees were scrapped and bloody and her nylons ripped. She gave me a big smile and thanked me over and over. I have great empathy and if you’re in great need, I’m there.

My girlfriend also said that I have a unique and wonderful way of seeing the world (whatever that means) and that is one of the reasons why she loves me.

I don’t feel the need to conquer the world. I just want to be me and do my thang.

How are you different?

From the girlfriend, when I asked her about me (please, do forgive me as I just started therapy and this is all part of the process ;-)):

You possess a rare combination of qualities some of which I have listed here (all of which I love): you’re feminine yet sexually dominant; you’re calm but tough; you have a wonderful eye for art and decor; you love adventure; you don’t easily dismiss things (meaning that you are willing to see the fun in activities that others might find silly or a waste of time); you have a wonderful, quirky sense of humor; you love people; you are too hard on yourself; you really listen; you’re a terrible driver; you’re romantic; you’re flexible and you aren’t the type of person who does the same thing day after day; you have a great imagination; you’re charming; you’re an encourager; you have an amazing gift with children; you follow your heart; and I could go on and on. I love you!!!
