Anyone have a Samsung Behold II? Does the battery life suck for you, too?

Asked by lilikoi (10105points) September 30th, 2010

I basically have to charge my phone every day and I don’t even use it very much. I got this used from a phone company for free so I initially assumed I needed a new battery, but then the batt life on the phone specs is quoted as around 4 hours of talk time. That doesn’t seem like very much, and now I’m thinking maybe it’s just that all the fancy shmancy features make it really inefficient.

Do you have FaceBook or some other app running in the background? ? Android can drain your battery with multitasking app’s in background. It is not just the talk time that eats the battery.

Samsung’s official site for the Behold II states that it should provide 6 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of standby time.

As @Tropical_Willie mentioned, you might want to make sure you’re not running a lot of intense apps in the background… especially anything that uses the GPS.

That might be easier said than done, though… as a report from Ars Technica today explains that apparently many apps from the Android Market will surreptitiously send your location data to advertisers, sometimes as often as every 30 seconds even if they’re not even showing ads.

Of course, batteries themselves are frequently as weak link. If yours is old – has been fully cycled a lot – then it might be time to replace it.

My wife has this identical same phone as you. does she like it? no. this phone is constantly at the “ready” position and attached to the web. this may be one reason her battery life is so short. i have the Sony Erricson and and i love it. it’s a flip-phone with many features. it does not have a “ready” for the web and its battery life is much longer.

You have one of two choices: buy a different phone or buy a new battery. i highly recommend the Sony Erricson, especially if you wear hearing aids.
