@Buster; and no one likes a young person who calls an entire class of people names. (And you mean “you’re”).

Retirement is predicated on many things; health, energy; income and investment flow, SSS benefits; health insurance issues. It is a personal decision.

A good age for retirement is either when you can no longer physically do the job or when you get sick and tired of all of the B***S*** and you can afford to stop working.

My father worked all his life on his feet, standing not sitting and he retired at 75 and that was only because the retail store where he was working went out of business. He then began volunteer work three days a week at a Manhattan church and did that until he broke his hip and couldn’t take the subway into Manhattan anymore,

I have an acquaintance here in town who sold his company for over $12,000,000. He had to stay on for one year to help transition and that was the last day he ever intends to work. The biggest decision he has every morning is whether to play the Dye course, the Nicklaus course or the Fazio course.

I personally can’t imagine not working every day but there are times when I look forward six years to my 65th birthday when I can quit this job and collect my deferred compensation and really not have to do much of anything all day.

The gentlemen and ladies in the US congress have consprired to incentivize the baby-boomers to work as long as possible, at least to the extent that you are concerned with social security payments. There has always been a policy that your benefits if you retire at 62 will be significantly lower than if you retired at 65.
The rules have been changed even more such that your benefits increase if you work through 66 and 67

My generation (Gen X) will likely work until we die. I don’t think SSN benefits will be around and if they are the $ will be insufficient.

If you love your job—never.

If you hate your job—as soon as you have enough cash.
