What's the best free hit counter for my website?

I have a website (currently around 1000 visits weekly). I want to add a (free or cheap) hit counter to it. I am using already Google analytics but I want to add something extra to show an “odometer” and if possible a module for “number of visitors on line”. What’s the best solution out there?

Are you sure it’s not in the panel that your web host provides? Mine uses Awstats.
