Yes. Just try to make it a small one. Not one of the huge golf umbrellas.
I took a cane on a flight to Las Vegas.The stewardess put it in the carry-on storage.It conked a woman in the head as she opened the door during the mad rush to leave.
Always wear a helmet ;)
@lucillelucillelucille I think “conk” is a great word! Seems like a brolly would be ok just because you never know what it’s going to be like where you’re going. As long as it’s dry… (Have a nice trip @jjmah, if you’re getting souvenirs, I like anything silver!) ;-)
@Trillian-What’s a brolly?
@jjmah-Have fun and yes,bring me a wildebeest,please.I’ll pay you when you get back;)

I learned something today. i was not aware that an umbrella is an approved item for carry-on with Delta. does this also apply to the other airlines? traveling in June to Seattle on Southwest Airlines.
@john65pennington Yes you can carry an umbrella on SWA. Again, try to make it a smaller one so it fits easily in the overhead. Smaller ones are usually more blunt on the end as well.
