Do people shoot wild boar and then eat them as bacon and roasts or are they too disgusting?

Men in Texas are hunting wild pigs in our county and some are planning on eating them. They are allegedly becoming too numerous and that they will attack. Is eating them common and do they taste like regular pigs? I hear they can jump six feet and have huge teeth ; it makes me cringe to think about it. So, are they tasty?
