How far could you carry your significant other (or equivalent) on your back (piggy-back style)?

I’ve often wondered how useful I’d be in an emergency. Generally, I picture myself as a “deer caught in the headlights” kind of person. Once, I even found myself at an accident-scene, standing in a group of very anxious people. We were all complaining about how long the ambulance/cops were taking until we realized none of us had called them.

However, I should at least be able to count on my body for something, right? Well, I’ve thought very carefully about this question, and decided my significant other should really think twice about doing any deep-woods hiking or “mountaineering” with me. If something were to happen… well, I probably got us lost in the first place.
