How do I keep up the color in my roots?

My hair is dyed red but is naturally very dark brown and grows out fast. There’s several layers of dye on my lengths so, even using the same dye as I did to dye my hair most recently the roots would still be so much darker. I don’t know how to keep up the color in my roots, tips?
