How can I find out exactly what my insurance policy covers?

Asked by deni (23141points) May 16th, 2011

I have health insurance through my dad. As of lately I’ve been trying, by rummaging around the Blue Cross Blue Shield website, to find out exactly what I can have done that insurance will pay for. For example, I broke my foot last summer, and am currently having knee and back pain (mild, but annoying) that I think are due to me walking weird because of my foot still being funky. Like, the lady I talked to at the chiropractors office asked if I had chiropractic insurance…and though I was almost positive I did (and I did), I had no idea how to find that out. At the same time I’ve heard people say that some insurance policies will actually cover massages and stuff….but how do I find out if mine does, or, just simply what it covers? You’d think there would be a portion of the BCBS website that just TELLS you what is covered, or what percent is covered, etc, but I can’t find it. Help?
