Is there a way to differentiate between gas pain and something more serious?

I woke up with severe pain in my entire abdomen. It hurts to stand up straight and I have to walk kind of bent over because it feels a bit better. The pain is sharp, stabbing and throbbing and I’ve had it for about 4 hours now. I’m wondering if it’s just gas pain because I know how painful that can get… but I’m going to the bathroom normally and as embarrassing as it is, I can pass gas normally. The pain is still there and it doesn’t feel any better after I go to the bathroom. I have to work in 2 hours and I don’t know if I should call in sick and go to the hospital or just stick it out if it’s only gas.
