Gifts for a man about to become eligible for the sr. citizen discount at the movie theater?

It seems that when you turn 55, the local theater gives you discounted movie tickets. Very odd.
In any case, you’d think this would be a cinch for me, but I’m horrible at picking out gifts or even knowing what I would want in this situation. So what would you suggest for a guy very similar in taste and interests to me? Keep it under $200. Something that would be useful and fun—entertaining even.
A gadget, a musical instrument, an adventure, a fluther add-on? An article of clothing that would be cool and unusual and suitable for a jazz musician.
