How to embed/indent a logo, name, symbol into leather?

How would you embed a piece of leather with a logo, letters, or a symbol? I want to embed or indent (whatever the proper term may be) my initials on an old wallet just to see how it comes out.

How could I go about this in a way that can at least pass for professional? What tools / machine should I use, how do I align the letters, etc.
