Is it illegal to stop one from going to church?

I am currently living in a christian based homeless shelter. I have 3 children and I am in my 30’s. I had a disagreement with a staff member, that staff member quit her job to avoid having a sit down talk between the director and myself. I got on 2 wks restriction, because the director said she dont know the truth of what happened. So I am able to go out during the week, but have to be in an @ 9pm 1hr early for curfew and I am not to leave the premises on the weekends. I ask what time do I have to be in when returning to church on sunday and I was told by the director that I could not go to church. However, I was forced to go to a donors pool party this past friday. I am very confused and seeking help on his this a proper law suit? Is forcing me not to go to church illegal?
