Should I be afraid of Hurricane Irene?

I live in CT and Hurricane Irene is nearing.
It’s supposed to only be a stage one, but I’m extremely nervous.
Everything in the backyard is secured so it doesn’t fly away, what are some other precautions to take in a worse case scenario?
Should I be worried even?
