Macbook Pro shutting down after 10 min of use, then has to rest for hour before I can restart it?

The mac pro is about 2 years old; the computer works periodically normal; then the bottom of computer gets really hot and fan starts, then computer mouse freezes and have to turn it off. Then can’t restart it for about 24 hours, (if you try to restart before 24 hrs, fan goes on, but no picture, so have to turn it off for 24 hrs) completely off with no so no fan going, then can start it up again and it is fresh and works for a day, two or a week sometimes, and then cycle keep continues.
Prior to this, the screen was flickering on and off, and have to adjust the screen at a certain angle to keep the screen on (this was occuring for a year). Question is: is it worth fixing and what is wrong? Computer is out of warranty…
