What was the last book you read because someone told you how much you would love it but you ended up hating it?

Inspired by this question by Jillthetooth, I got to thinking about book recommendations that didn’t work out so well for me. I had a friend recommend A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, I didn’t even make it through the first chapter. What book that came highly recommended did you loathe?
