Would you care to add your country's abbreviations to a fluther glossary?

Inspired by this question a few weeks back, by rebbel…

I’m thinking particularly of abbreviations that you would use on fluther, rather than generic txt speak. I guess I am thinking of longer-standing acronyms, such as MIA, meaning missing in action. Are there any that may be specific to your country?

In the UK, some we have are:
NHS – National Health Service
GMT – Greenwich Mean Time
M&S – Marks and Spencer (a nationwide, upmarket(ish) chainstore)
DVLA – Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency
UCAS – the University and Colleges Admission Service (exams taken aged 16–18 are assigned a point value, and universities can request a certain number of points to gain admission)
