What does it mean when a microwave makes a whistling noise every time it is being used?

I used this microwave for a year in my dorm. Now I mostly use it for my microwaveable heating pad for my cats. After a couple months of this it is making a loud whistling noise every time I use it. What does mean, and how can it be fixed?
