Will I get sick if I eat vegetables that use a particular fertilizing method?

A friend of mine introduced me to a DVD of a guy who uses beer, ammonia, dish washing liquid and other ingredients to fertilize just about everything. My question is; will these chemicals/substances be transferred into the plants and will I get sick if I in turn eat the plants.
