Why do some DVD's not have a skip preview option?

I know it’s probably because it’s to get you to go out and buy the movie or watch it in the theaters, but is there no way to skip the previews at all? No matter what buttons you push on the remote control, you can’t skip them at all.
Sometimes they can be a half hour long.
