( Maybe NSFW ) So, fellow human beings, how has saliva benefited you?

Have you at one time or another thought about how saliva help you perform your normal human bodily functions? If you did, what were those possibly unique insights of yours and if you haven’t, care to think about it now and share? What I’m going for here are random answers that may surprise and not just the typical scientific definition such as this one…btw, humor welcome.

SALIVA – the watery fluid that is secreted into the mouth by the salivary glands. In many animals, including humans, it contains the enzyme amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates. Saliva contains mucus, which lubricates food for swallowing, and various proteins and mineral salts.
