How do I go about helping my chihuahua lose weight?

I rescued a chihuahua in February and she was severely underweight. She is now about 6.5lbs and I was told I need to keep and eye on her weight now.
I only feed her a ½ cup of food for the day and she loves her walks.
I personally don’t think she is overweight. She looks very lean to me.
Any suggestions/tips?
