What will it take to return the GOP to being a conservative party?

The GOP has been hijacked by radicals who seem intent on tearing down all the social institutions of the 20th and 21st century and regressing America to the late 1800s and the days of the Robber Barons. Look at the definition of conservatism in the dictionary. Radical reactionaries are not conservative. They are the polar opposite. I believe Andy is absolutely spot on. It seems that a few incredibly greedy billionaires and multinational mega-corporations have put up the money it takes to subsume an entire political party and bend it to further enriching themselves at the expense of everyone else. Can the damage be undone, must the entire party be scrapped, or should we just let them set up the banana republic they desire?
