I'm using GMAIL 2-step authentication. It asks me to re-verify for no particular reason. Was someone messing with my GMAIL?

If I’m using Gmail two-step authentication and, out of nowhere, it asks me to verify my device again when it has been verified for months, does that mean someone was messing with it?
