Can you check to see if a unborn baby in the womb has hep c virus?

a women is pregnant and her partner has the hep c virus,can checks be made before the baby is born to see if the baby is infected

Not really. There is only a small risk of transmission. Tests are usually taken at birth or immediately after.

Of course you can check. Suck some blood out of it and run it through standard test. As to if it is a good idea that is a different question entirely.

I believe it is possible to take blood samples from an unborn baby, but probably more dangerous than waiting until the birth.
