Do olympians get a free pass?

I’m curious, do olympians get free tickets to the olympics they do not participate in? i.e. if you’re in the Biathlon, do you get free tickets to the summer olympics etc.? If so, do they get to talk to their counterparts, or are they strictly “spectator” seats?

Also, how long do you think it might take an average-built, relatively fit man nearing 30 to become an olympic-level biathlonist if they were to really stick to the training schedule. Laugh all you want, goals are important in life :P One last question – are there any athletes who compete in both summer AND winter olympics? Is it allowed?
