Conspiracy Theories - Christians vs Obama: What are your thoughts?

Asked by iLove (2344points) March 1st, 2013

I begin this question with a heavy SIGH.

I am not a big fan of Social Media – my Facebook page has 67 friends, I don’t think I have ever had more than 100 friends.

I practice Buddhism but was raised Baptist.

Recently, a dear Christian friend of mine began a debate about the medical implants that are raising some fuss and how she refuses to be “bullied” into conformity. The post was very ambiguous so I dug deeper to inquire what the specifics were of her soapbox rant. Mind you, I am not one to ever engage in any type of conflict – especially on Facebook of all places. This person is one of the kindest people I know. But after reading more responses to her post, I became very concerned.

Politics and religion are my least favorite topics to discuss.

However, when I started seeing that some of the responses referenced “Mark of the Beast” and Obama is the Devil, I became very agitated. This is the very type of assumptions that Christians sometimes chastise others for – interpreting the bible loosely, etc.

Anyway, the information she passed along was found in these two articles. I really am at a loss to understand how this leads people to believe that Obama is the devil.

I was online today, and came across a clear example of the media twisting information for their own agenda. Please read the follwing articles, and you will see more reasons why people are getting so upset. Also, people often refer to snopes.com for the “truth”. Be informed by the snopes article below that they too are part of the machine:
