How do you reward yourself?

Asked by RandomGirl (3362points) March 19th, 2013

I’ve found that I need a short break between tasks throughout the day to let my mind stop and regroup before being stretched and pushed to the limits in a different area. High school is tough on the brain.

If you do something similar, what is it? I stop between subjects or assignments and Fluther, Facebook, or watch something on the internet. Mythbusters, Psych, and Scishow on youtube are great.

I’ve considered having a project to have on my desk and come back to every so often and work on for 10 minutes here and there. Has anyone tried this? What did you do?

Some people just sit and close their eyes for a few minutes. This would drive me, personally, up a wall – I need to be actively doing something with my hands or watching something. Are you one of those people who just sits to take a break? What do you think about? Not work/school, obviously.

So, how do you reward yourself or take breaks? Do you not even do anything like this? Can you stay powered and moving forward the entire day?

P.S. This is for free: Studies have shown that the brain nearly shuts down after 50 minutes of doing the same thing non-stop. If you force yourself to keep working past that, you’ll actually start to forget everything you had learned or thought of. Take breaks!
