Jason is a recovering meth addict. The fellas at the pool hall allow him to win a few games without serious challenge. The idea is to “trick” Jason into feeling the win. Not to set him up later. Nothing so cynical as that.

But the idea is to remind Jason what it feels like to win. Yes, there are times to Let the Wookie win out of compassion for someone who has been losing for so long that they cannot remember what it feels like to succeed.

I’m amazed at what a few wins, and decent conversation with some decent people, have had a positive affect on Jason’s persona, demeanor, and overall attitude.
