Why is my blister so itchy?

Thursday last week, I developed a blister from the shoes I was wearing on my pinky toe. It is almost the same size as my pinky toe. it appears to have popped because it is crusting over on one side, but it still looks all reddish and puffy like it did when I first got it. I know it’s healing, but it’s very itchy and I can’t scratch it. I’m using an antibiotic cream now (kind of like Neosporin) and it seems to help, but it flares up itchy all the time. I’ve looked it up online, but the things I find are STD related and viral infection related causes for the blisters. Any ideas?
