Why is the Christopher Lane shooting getting a distinctly different style of media coverage than, say the Trayvon Martin shooting?

The press made race a focal point in the Martin case, since there was a racial contrast between shooter and victim.

Same contrast here. Except, no commentary about race, no speech by the President, not much of anything except to say a few teenagers were bored and shot a guy.

Is it because he is Australian, and not American?
