I would buy it from Chinatungsten . They make gold plated tungsten bars and coins as a scam to trick people who think they are getting solid gold.
It is a scam

“Start with a tungsten alloy about 1/8-inch smaller in each dimension than the tungsten alloy golden bar you want, then cast a 1/16-inch layer of real pure gold all around it. This product would feel right in the hand, and tungsten alloy golden bar would have a dead ring when knocked as gold should. Gold-plated tungsten alloy bar would test right chemically, weigh exactly the right amount, and also gold-plated tungsten alloy bar pass an x-ray fluorescence scan, the 1/16″ layer of pure gold being enough to stop the x-rays from reaching any tungsten.

The appliances of Chinatungsten gold-plated tungsten alloy bar and tungsten alloy golden bar as gold substitution…...”

@LuckyGuy
How much would a little chest full of these wolfram-gold coins cost?
Might be really great to have your own pirate treasure chest full of gold coins, without having to pay a lot of money.

@ragingloli Unfortunately the scum bags pass them off as real gold coins.

They even fooled some banks with tungsten filled “gold bars” used for interbank transfers.

Here is more on the scam:
Get your Fake Tungsten filled gold coins here.

This is genius by the way. It preys on anti-government, doomsday preppers and people with less than savory accounting practices who can’t or won’t use banks.

The price of tungsten is less than 1% of gold.

Some preppers have moved to hoarding silver because they think the price is too low to counterfeit. Wrong! Lead filled silver is already out there.
The Chinese mint is working overtime. NK too.

High quality stuff. State sponsored perhaps?

@LuckyGuy Sounds like they make counterfeit SPAM.

LuckyGuy's avatar

@zenvelo The spam is real. The coins are counterfeit.

In case you think you can tell if gold is fake… You can’t.

These are the tests amateurs are using. How to tell if gold is real
None of those tests will detect tungsten filled gold!

Our lab does it with X-ray and acoustic analyses.
