Has a character ever had an impact in your thoughts/opinions?

An example of this would be the new rendition of Annie impacting a lot of young black girls, in that they get to see someone like them as the lead in a movie. It might have changed their opinion on themselves.

I’m wondering if a certain character – more specifically female characters and characters of minority groups—has ever done that to you, influenced you in any way. It can be from films, books, etc.
