Fortune-cookie wisdom or is it?

I recently got a fortune cookie at the end of a wonderful Chinese dinner. I opeded it up, and proceeded to chew cookie pieces while I read what was to befall my fate.
The cookie said: ” Thank goodness! I finally got out of that cookie!” I kept it to place next to the other one on an old mirror at home. That one read: ” Help! I’m being held captive in a fortune cookie factory!”.
My friend however holds them dear- believing them true fate markers. She had one she kept that told her that her rival would soon be gone. Sure enough, this happened in the same week. Bad boss- caught and fired. Her next saved one said that after a difficult journey, she would win money. Sure enough, a court case was found in her favor. It had been a hellacious journey to get there to that point.
Another acquaintance won lottery $ money (modest, yet winnig amount for rent that month)
Have you had my humorous type of fortunes from your cookies, or have you had words which harbors truths in your future or fortune?
And also- do you eat the fortune cookie? Or crumble and dash?
