Is marriage the test for racism?

Asked by JLeslie (65447points) October 31st, 2015 from iPhone

When people are accused of being racist sometimes they defend themselves by saying they have friends of that race. Many people feel that doesn’t really mean or prove anything.

If someone says they wouldn’t marry out of their race, they are often viewed as racist.

Is marriage the ultimate test? If you will marry someone of a different race, or are married to someone of a different race, and you are critiquing or critical about something particular in that group does the marriage prove you aren’t racist?

Does being from the group yourself prove you aren’t racist? Can you say anything about your own race?
