What happens to the bullies?

Whenever someone talks about bullying, it’s always about the victim: how did they survive it, how does it feel, what did they do, etc.
I don’t have anything against that, I just wonder…...what about the bullies?
Do they continue being bullies when they grow up? Do they even realise they were bullies? If yes, how do they feel about it? What do you think goes on in a bully’s head?
Have you ever heard anyone saying “I was a bully”? Do you know anyone who was a bully? How did they turn out? Would you lose respect for someone who turned out to have been a bully as a child? (not sure if this is grammatically correct)
How would you react if, suddenly, you realised you were a bully as a kid?
