Not understanding p value (chi square statistic problem)

Asked by newth (46points) June 27th, 2017

This is for those of you who are familiar with statistics. I came across a nonparametric test that concludes p is less than 0.05. This is what it looks like..

X2(1, N=56) = 41.14, p < 0.05

The cut off was 3.841.

My question is.. the p value here is written as a probability, not a percent in the result? So 3.84 or 3% is less than 0.05 or 5%?

Thank you!
