Does your tongue sensation flip when you flip it?

I just did the tongue flip trick as described in this video Is Anything Real. The problem is that it doesn’t work for me in the way the video suggests. Why?

I’ve done it a dozen times, flipped my tongue upside down, touched the right side (which is now really the left side), but it still feels like I’m touching the right side. Same for the other side. My senses don’t flip. Or they do flip..? It’s like my brain recognizes the tongue flip then flips the senses to accommodate normal sensation. Why? How?
