What's the strangest myth that you've ever heard?

About 3 days after Easter, I was eating out during lunch. A family came in sat at the table next to me. It was a child around 8–10, his Mother who appeared to be in her early 40s & Grandmother who was probably in her mid 60s. I wasn’t paying attention to their conversation; so I don’t know what initiated the comment; but Grandmother told the little boy that Easter eggs are laid & delivered by the Easter Bunny. He looked at her like she had grown a third head & explained to her that rabbits can’t lay eggs & The Easter Bunny only delivers them.Grandmother got all indignant & told him that the Easter Bunny does indeed lay all the Easter eggs. The daughter jumped in explaining to her Mom that she was misunderstanding as rabbits cannot lay eggs. Grandmother was quite upset by this point & was insisting that the Easter Bunny does indeed lay the eggs that he delivers. So, daughter again tries to get through to Mom that “he” cannot lay a egg because boys don’t lay eggs…girls do. Grandmother just refused to believe it & called her waitress over to back up her claim. Te waitress explained that chickens lay the eggs & then the eggs are dyed & the Easter Bunny only delivers them. Grandmother was freaking out because for over 60 years she had thought that the Easter Bunny laid the eggs he delivered. Do you know anybody eho got their facts this screwed up?
