Have you noticed the increasing, and annoying, trend to embed advertising into the video content of news stories, etc?

It has got to be something that really catches my attention for me to sit through the ad and not flit on to the next item.
Do they have data, or do they collect data, that tells them that the ads are being turned off by people like me and so their content is not being viewed?
Same goes with anything that is put in list form where you have to go from one screen to the next. Rare that I get past the second click before quitting the site. Do they know this?
