Unbearable Pain (Ladies Only - Could be Awkward for Some)

Asked by JK_DTR (57points) June 26th, 2019

For years I’ve had horrible pains during my period. It started happening a couple years after I had my first at eleven (two maybe, three years after).

It usually happens for a day or two and the pain slowly lessens as my cycle comes to an end.

The pain gets so bad though that I can’t move and usually spend an hour or two on the floor shifting my position for a few seconds of relief, before it comes rushing back again. I sometimes cry and beg my body to let me sleep so I don’t have to feel it. I did once, but I honestly believe I probably might have passed out. I don’t know. I once half joked to my mother that I’d probably die if I ever went through childbirth if I couldn’t even handle these pains…I was almost completely serious.

It even hurts so much when I try and use the bathroom.

I went to the hospital a few years ago and I had a male doctor talk to me. When I told him it happened during my periods he didn’t really take me seriously and sent me home, as by then the pain had already stopped. I could’ve never gotten out the door otherwise.

Is this normal? Did I overreact? Have any of you other ladies suffered like this? Or is my pain tolerance just severely low?

I haven’t been to a doctor in many years. If I should go, do I see a specialist or just my primary?

Thank you all in advance.
