How do I refill a gas powered snowblower?

I don’t have it anymore, but I am still curious about how to refill it. Do I just get a gas can and fill at a gas station? Or some way else? I don’t know what type of gas to use. Petrol or diesel? What quality of gas? Was inherited from my grandpa to my dad. Their were no instructions.
