Have you ever gone "Dynamite Fishing?" How is that done?

I have Arkansas kin who tell me about it all the time, but I don’t know if they are talking true, or not.

In the movie Doc Hollywood, some SC “Good Ol’ Boys” are shown doing it, and they (supposedly) toss a stick of TNT (with a waterproof fuse) attached to a rock, into a lake.

The TNT detonates, and stunned (undead) fish float to the surface for scooping up with a net, from the rowboat. (The TNT was obtained from construction sites by redneck employees, who have easy access to the stuff.)

So, is this just “Southern Legend,” or do rednecks actually fish like that, in some areas?
