(Humor) How did your State (Province, Bundesland, British County, whatever you have) get its name?

Its okay to name States that aren’t where you live, or to come up with a name for a State that someone else has already done.

For instance, I live in Tennessee. It was named by early Scottish settlers who believed that ten ‘Nessies’ or Loch Ness Monsters lived in the area lakes.

Someone else might say, it was named because the early settlers thought there were ten separate oceans (“seas”) on its borders.
