Would this bother anybody else?

So about 2 weeks ago I was in the hospital for a couple days and missed a week of work. My job was really nice about everything, and they had the lady come in who used to work in that position. (I work at a church, and she attends the church so it’s not as weird of a situation as it sounds.)

Now this lady did a decent job, but apparently she’s forgotten a lot of stuff in 5 and ½ years and I ended up being on the phone or emailing with her a lot. I really didn’t mind because while I was in the hospital, I was kind of bored to death and it was nice to have somebody to interact with. Anyway, she was talking with me and expressed concern that if she was ever out of town and something happened to me, they really ought to have a third person who can step in. I do feel like this is being a little paranoid because I hadn’t been in the hospital in 6 years, but whatever.

So I get an email from her late last night. She is working for me tomorrow (Friday) because I am using one of my vacation days. And so she was informing me that she’s going to have someone from the church training as a third person. This is a relatively new member and nobody even asked me my thoughts on it. On top of that, she feels we should give this woman our Gmail password and my personal login for my account on the computer. I told her I wasn’t comfortable with that and that if a situation arose where neither I or the lady who normally subs for me were available, she could always go to the administrator and get the password, but that in the meanwhile there was no reason for her to have it. My regular sub then informed me that she would go to the pastor and talk to him about it. It’s not actually his decision but rather the clerk of session, but I was kind of taken aback why she would take it upon herself to talk to the pastor when I should be the one having the conversation with him.

I haven’t heard her response to all this yet, but I did email her back and let her know that if we are training a third person, then I want to be the person training them. While I was in the hospital, my normal sub struggled to figure out how to do some things because she works on a mac. She told me that several times. And yet the whole time she was secretary before me, she obviously worked on a PC because that’s what we have. So I don’t necessarily want her training this woman if she’s not even sure of what she’s doing half the time.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that I seem to have been left totally out of the loop on any of these decisions. I am going to talk to my boss about this today and we’ll see how it goes.
