If video games like "Fortnight" are so addictive then why don't we use addictive games to motivate students?

My local news stated that parents are making a class action lawsuit against “Fortnight.”

For example I use “Duolingo”, and it works for me to learn French. They have animation and rewarding beeps. I have been on a 14 day streak. With awards and it’s addictive.
