Can you help me fix a gaming glitch?

I know there are a few gamers here. I am not one, but my nephew got me hooked on Fortnite. Since the recent update I am having all kind of glitches where I can’t use weapons or tools or jump. Sometimes one problem sometimes all three. Occasionally opening the game in another tab helps. I have rebooted my iPad and my router. Any suggestions?
Secondary question: I am playing for free on Xbox site. Would I have the same issues if I bought the game pass?
